Activities Strengthening Democracy Scoping the potential for social democratic cooperation 16.11.2025 FES’ international work depends crucially on a close exchange with our partner organizations. Following the opening of the FES office in Canberra in 2025, a visit from Berlin allowed us to deepen those conversations. Both guests spoke at the conference and participated in the program and related conversations such as at the office for a Resilient Sydney. The visit provided a valuable opportunity for an exchange of views with Australian counterparts in Federal Parliament, for receiving an update on the state of bilateral developments as well as of EU-Australia relations, and for a vibrant exchange with a number of Australian experts on international relations, foreign, security and development policy and plans for a just transition towards a net zero emissions economy. The many fruitful conversations will help the young FES-Canberra office to better target its engagement program on issues that promise best value for mutual benefit and for shaping progressive policy proposals that resonate in society.
